Here’s your daily dose of Italian: “in boca al lupo.” We the Italians says the phrase is an idiom that roughly translates to “break your leg” when wishing someone good luck. In boca al lupo means “I hope you go into the mouth of the wolf.” It doesn’t sound very encouraging, but it’s origins stem from ancient Italian hunts; essentially, it’s wishing your friend or co-hunter safety and protection (to which your friend would probably respond crepi, or, “may the wolf die”). Food truck franchising may feel a bit like going on a wolf hunt. After all, you’re out hunting for customers to try your delicious treats. You may think that food truck franchising requires a lot of luck to be successful—it doesn’t.
According to franchising.com, food truck franchising benefits include:
A higher chance of success than in a sole proprietorship
Shorter opening time
Initial training
Ongoing support
An established brand
An established business model
Assistance with securing funding
A network of peers and fellow franchisees to provide advice and moral support
Just like the buddy who wishes you to “go into the mouth of the wolf,” Repicci’s Italian Ice and Gelato will always be by your side. There’s an old mantra in franchising that goes, “being in business for yourself and not by yourself.” It’s true. When you’re out there hunting for new customers to try a scoop of gelato or taste of Italian ice, you won’t be out there alone. You’ll be equipped with the tools and proper training you need to have a successful hunt, and luck has nothing to do with it.
